In 1981, it all began with this simple home computer. The Texas Instruments TI-99/4a.
This computer didn't come with BASIC. It was a cartridge that you had to load. With that, and various computer programming magazines, we got to try writing code with GOTO and GOSUB statements for the first time.
With our Atari, we got to write in Atari BASIC, which was still line-numbered code with PEEK and POKE statements and began calling our first Bulletin Board Systems (BBSs) with a 300 baud modem. Also played a lot of Alternate Reality: The Dungeon.
We switched to Commodore BASIC and were writing the same line-numbered code, but with SYS commands as well and continued calling ANSI Bulletin Board Systems (BBSs) with our 1200 baud modem.

The part “coding solutions” is purposefully written in 8-bit font. This is a shout out to all those of us who began programming way back in the 80s when there was only 64k RAM to create software. We are so spoiled today with gigabytes of RAM to code with.
